Boston Monday Columbus Day

Up early and off to get 'Boris bikes'. The station near us had only one showing on the app, and as we could see the station and that there was only one bike we believed it. A short walk to the science museum to pick up two there. By the time we had negotiated the technology including the need to put in a US contact phone no! It was chucking it down with rain (hurricane remnants apparently) so coffee in the museum after which time there was only one working bike available. So a short walk to the next station where there were loads plus a very helpful bike maintenance man who told us which were the best ones and waved us off on our way.
Lovely cycle around the old docks and canals and across into north Boston then a long run down to Boston Common were there was a 10km ladies run taking place with loads of road closures police and grid lock. Found a great place for lunch Parish Cafe, after walking around the Victorian park and gardens and seeing the bronze ducks. Picking up new bikes we saw the proper 'Cheers' bar and then cycled down the Charles river which was lovely, over a bridge and into MIT. The roads were closed so we could cycle on the proper side of the dual carriage way until they warned us it was about to reopen.
A quick swim in the hotel pool to keep us awake and stretch our weary bones and then I went off to the science museum on a free pass and saw a spectacular lightning display.
Dinner in a nearby restaurant and then to bed.
