White Mountains Sunday

Weather forecast was a bit dubious but after a slow start it was very nice and warm, tee shirt weather again even in the evening.

Did mid trip washing in the condo. All the machinery rivals Concord's Olympus engines for noise and size. We left them to it and drove to Crawford's Notch for a proper hike. The colours en route were superb and we passed ski resorts.

The hike was 1.4 miles  up to 200' Arethusa waterfall where we had our packed lunch, v warm and pleasant in the sun. Then a much longer walk through the trees to a wonderful cliff-top view point from Frankenstein's cliffs. Back down a steep descent, under the railway viaduct and a walk along the valley to the parking lot. 5h in total. Not too tired!

Drove further into the notch but everywhere had shut for the season today. The is a hotel here where Eisenhower held WII conferences and that made the previously little known are popular.

Getting twilightish so back to the condo and relax in the out door hot tub with a backdrop of fall colours on the mountainsides. Very therapeutic for tired muscles.

Decided where to go for dinner, got there, car park full and place booked for a private function. Everywhere else had bands playing, ended up at the Wild Cat restaurant in Jackson. Walking around we saw not only pumpkin people but also Christmas displays with Father Christmas and lit up Christmas trees - hurrah.

Christmas!

  1. Great photos. You are right about American appliances being noisy. Their fridges are too.
