Meredith Thursday 12th

Drove from Ogunquit to Meredith, mainly on back roads and through woods with some trees in lovely colours especially when close to lakes or rivers. V cold in the morning,10 deg, by contrast to the hot and humid mid twenties of previous days, but clear as a bell.

Had a great walk around Meredith which is v cute and seems to be all owned by the same organisation which keeps it pristine. The lake, Winnipesaukee, is huge and the water crystal clear. Higher up in the hills is a smaller lake and back in the day a chap had a canal (mill stream) cut and there is a large water fall which used to feed one of several flour mills. The town has a sculputre trail with a lovely horse.
Went for lunch in a cafe on the third floor of the mill. Then a walk up into the woods and to the feeder lake and sat on 'turtle rock'.

Wine tasting in a famous winery, no grapes used now only local fruits and surprisingly good.
