Went for a walk around Ogunquit, very Disney bit like Carmel, down on to the beach and had a sunny sit on the salt marsh side and watched the birds and the million dollar plus houses on the other shore!
Bought sandwiches and went off to Wells Wilderness area and had a lovely walk around trails with chipmunks, woodpeckers and agin salt marshes and woods. Long chat with lady ranger who said she visited the Cotswolds and thought they were very Disney! She had just come back from the Outer Hebrides and said she thought that the beaches were amazing but could not go up the mountains as the weather was so bad. She also said that this was the first year for 15 years that the monarch butterflies that we saw had returned to Maine which was fantastic.
Bought some, beer and presecco finished our lunchtime sandwiches for tea on a bench on the coast path, watching a yacht trying to make headway with no wind! It seemed to switch its engine on and head for port just before it went totally dark. The eider ducks took no notice.
A day of lots of nature:
Competition to guess the combined weight of 5 of these monsters
